New PAN and correction details

New PAN application

PAN is a 10-character alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department. An application may result in a physical PAN card or e-PAN depending on the selected mode.

  • Form 49A: Indian citizens and entities formed in India
  • Form 49AA: individuals who are not Indian citizens and foreign entities
  • Apply only when a PAN has not already been allotted
  • Keep name and date of birth consistent across proofs

PAN correction / update

Use a correction request when existing PAN details are wrong or have changed. Never apply for a second PAN just to change information.

Important: Aadhaar can be uploaded as one full document or as front and back files. Voter ID proof can also be uploaded as full document or front and back. An accepted DOB proof may still be needed where applicable.
